Massachusetts Attorney General’s
Consumer Advisory
WARNING:
CPCs do NOT provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare.
CPCs are organizations that seek to prevent people from accessing abortion care.
The Attorney General’s Office is committed to securing the civil rights of all people in Massachusetts or traveling to Massachusetts to access healthcare. If you have concerns about your experience with a crisis pregnancy center, file a complaint online or call 617-963-2917.
“If we want Massachusetts to continue to lead the way for reproductive justice, we must directly address the unfair and deceptive practices used by crisis pregnancy centers. My office is committed to protecting patients from these dangerous tactics and ensuring that people who need an abortion can access this essential healthcare without fear of intimidation, coercion or interference.”
- Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell
Massachusetts Department of Health
Warning About Crisis Pregnancy Centers
Avoid crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs): they are not reproductive health care clinics.
While CPCs may appear to be reproductive healthcare clinics, they do not provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare services or counseling.
CPCs do not provide abortion care or abortion referrals, contraception, or other reproductive health care, despite what they may advertise. Prenatal care, emergency contraception, and abortion are time-sensitive services.
CPCs often look like medical clinics and sometimes use tactics to delay your access to care, which may reduce or eliminate your options and ability to receive services.
“The state legally protects women’s right to choose, yet those seeking reproductive care must navigate a treacherous landscape of misinformation to obtain services.”
-Dahlia Lyss, “Massachusetts’ Crisis Pregnancy Center Dilemma”
